National Illicit drugs campaign funding announced

Crime Stoppers Australia welcomes the commitment from the Federal Government to take our national Dob-in-a-Dealer campaign to the next level.

The $3.5m funding announcement, made in Sydney on Tuesday 12th April 2022, will allow Crime Stoppers to visit local communities across Australia and encourage residents to be active in sharing what they know about the manufacture and supply of illicit drugs.

In some way, every family is sure to have been impacted by drugs, whether that’s losing a loved one or watching them struggle with addiction, been a victim of violence, crime and trauma, or contributed to the significant health and social costs to the community.

In fact, our own research shows drugs remain the number one crime of concern for all Australians.

This campaign will focus on organised crime and those higher up the illicit drug trade and help police and other law enforcement to unsettle domestic drug markets, disrupt national and international supply chains and hamper activities of criminal networks, particularly organised crime groups.

And the eyes and ears of the community are the secret weapons needed to achieve enhanced information flow about cross-border illicit drug trafficking activity – so watch this space!
